About the Committee
Many years ago, WSTA had a Finance Officers Roundtable that met regularly to discuss issues relating to finance in the transit sector. From looking back at our records, it seems this committee hasn't been active for at least 15 years. In 2012, several of our members expressed interest in re-establishing this committee to be able to once again have a group dedicated to discussing and sharing information related to finance.
We had the inaugural meeting of the WSTA Finance Committee on March 27, 2013. Some of our members who helped spark interest for this committee are also part of the Washington State Transit Insurance Pool (WSTIP) Board of Directors. We will work to coordinate these meetings every quarter when the WSTIP Board Meeting occurs to minimize travel and take advantage of everyone being together.
This group will be called the WSTA Finance Officers Leadership Committee (WSTA-FOLC) and adopted committee by-laws in June 2013.
Any member of WSTA who is a Chief Financial Officer and/or other appropriate staff who perform finance-related functions are welcome to attend.
WSTA charges registration fees for committee meetings when necessary to cover the costs of food, room rental, materials, etc. As a meeting date approaches, registration will open and more details will be available.
The Committee elects a new Committee Chair, Vice Chair and Secretary each year. The 2017 elected officers are:
Chair: Brenda Lamb, Link Transit
Vice Chair: Shonda Shipman, Whatcom Transportation Authority
Secretary: Melinda Smithson, Clallam Transit System
