VANPOOL COMMITTEE
The WSTA Vanpool Committee is the most recent addition to the WSTA
family. Currently Chaired by Pierce Transit's Lani Fowlkes and Ben
Franklin Transit's Terry DeJuan, the group of
vanpool professionals meets two to three times per year.
Each meeting provides the opportunity for these industry experts to get
together to share information, address common concerns, and
anticipate upcoming needs.The mission of the
WSTA Vanpool Committee is to coordinate statewide support for continued
efficient, low cost commute choices, in particular vanpooling, and to
support economic growth while reducing environmental impacts.
GOALS:

Increase vanpool
ridership
·
Increase
participation in RideshareOnline to facilitate carpool and vanpool
formations and retention
·
Help meet Washington
State goals for climate change, economic development, congestion relief,
etc.
·
Coordinate
networking and training opportunities for vanpool professionals
·
Facilitate an open
communication channel between State departments and transit agencies
OBJECTIVES:

Maintain and
implement a Statewide Vanpool Plan
·
Maintain and improve
the RideshareOnline internet site
·
Create and implement
options to support the Washington State Climate Action Plan
·
Secure funding
alternatives to expand vanpooling
·
Explore and utilize
new technologies and techniques to increase efficiencies
Any member of WSTA engaged in the
provision of vanpooling is eligible to participate on the committee. If
