VANPOOL COMMITTEE

The WSTA Vanpool Committee is the most recent addition to the WSTA family.  Currently Chaired by Pierce Transit's Lani Fowlkes and Ben Franklin Transit's Terry DeJuan, the group of vanpool professionals meets two to three times per year.
Each meeting provides the opportunity for these industry experts to get together to share information, address common concerns, and anticipate upcoming needs.

The mission of the WSTA Vanpool Committee is to coordinate statewide support for continued efficient, low cost commute choices, in particular vanpooling, and to support economic growth while reducing environmental impacts.

GOALS:

·         Increase vanpool ridership

·         Increase participation in RideshareOnline to facilitate carpool and vanpool formations and retention

·         Help meet Washington State goals for climate change, economic development, congestion relief, etc.

·         Coordinate networking and training opportunities for vanpool professionals

·         Facilitate an open communication channel between State departments and transit agencies

OBJECTIVES:

·         Maintain and implement a Statewide Vanpool Plan

·         Maintain and improve the RideshareOnline internet site

·         Create and implement options to support the Washington State Climate Action Plan

·         Secure funding alternatives to expand vanpooling
