Governor Gregoire's Proposed Transportation Package

Governor Gregoire addressed public transportation in her State of the State Address on Tuesday, January 10, 2012. She proposed a ten-year, $3.7 billion transportation package which would include $150 million or $15 million per year for transit.
She proposed that all revenue sources be approved by the legislature through fee increases.  She also encouraged the legislature to look at a ballot measure in the future (not necessarily this year) to fund a number of megaprojects.
The transit funding is for operations and maintenance of the transportation system - to mitigate potential service cuts to passengers that would affect their ability to get to work, school and other destinations.”
