Governor Gregoire's Proposed Transportation Package |

| Governor Gregoire
addressed public transportation in her State of the State Address on
Tuesday, January 10, 2012.
She proposed a ten-year, $3.7 billion
transportation package which would include $150 million or $15 million
per year for transit. She proposed that all revenue sources be approved by the legislature through fee increases. She also encouraged the legislature to look at a ballot measure in the future (not necessarily this year) to fund a number of megaprojects. The transit funding is for operations and maintenance of the transportation system - to “mitigate potential service cuts to passengers that would affect their ability to get to work, school and other destinations.” To read the Governor's entire State of the State address, click here.
